QOCO Systems Oy

Dottir advised QOCO Systems Oy, a leading provider of aviation software solutions, in its multi-million-euro financing transaction with Juuri Partners. The investment will be used to accelerate QOCO’s international expansion, mainly by recruiting new talent in software development, sales and marketing.

QOCO helps airlines, MROs, and OEMs around the world to increase their operational efficiency with advanced SaaS solutions, driving the digitalization of aircraft maintenance operations and planning. QOCO’s clients include Rolls-Royce, Finnair and TAP Air Portugal, among others. Juuri is a private equity firm supporting the development and growth of solid, established Finnish SMEs.


Dottir advised the lead investor, Sparkmind.vc, in the EUR 3.8 million financing round of Autovio GmbH. Nearly ten international investors, including the German tech-VC fund Coparion, participated in the round.

Berlin-based Autovio, founded in 2021, has developed a digital platform for driving schools. The startup aims to make driving school operations more efficient by digitizing and optimizing their processes as a full-service provider. 50 driving schools are already using Autovio's infrastructure.

Sparkmind.vc is a Nordic venture capital company solely focused on EdTech.

Lindström Group

Dottir advised Lindström in their IT outsourcing where Lindström outsourced its End-User Services, IT Infra Services and Application and Maintenance Services. This high-profile outsourcing case included a full procurement, RFP and negotiation process. The outsourcing of IT services will support Lindström’s objectives to strengthen digitalisation and data management throughout their organisation.

Lindström is one of Europe’s leading textile service companies with over 175 years of experience in the textile industry.

The Insurance Centre

Dottir advised the Insurance Centre in the procurement of their new IT-system which handles statistics, research, and reporting of the Finnish Motor Insurers' Centre, the Finnish Patient Insurance Centre, and the Finnish Workers' Compensation Centre. Dottir provided assistance to the Insurance Centre throughout the entire procurement project, from the RFP-phase to the final negotiations with the chosen supplier.

The Finnish Insurance Centre is the central body of non-life insurance companies in Finland.

PURO Finance

Dottir advises PURO Finance Oy and its shareholders in the contemplated combination with Alisa Bank Plc. Following completion of the combination, the current shareholders of PURO Finance will own approximately 40 per cent and current shareholders of Alisa Bank approximately 60 per cent of Alisa Bank’s shares.

Alvar Pet

Dottir advised Alvar Pet and its owners on the acquisition of Verkkokauppa Kivuton and on the investment from Juuri Partners.

Alvar Pet, a premier Finnish brand specializing in direct-to-consumer pet food, successfully acquired Verkkokauppa Kivuton, a Finnish online retailer dedicated to pet health. This strategic acquisition was facilitated by a significant investment from the private equity firm, Juuri Partners.

The merger of Alvar Pet and Verkkokauppa Kivuton creates the Nordics' largest online marketplace focused on pet health. It offers pet owners an extensive selection of products and diets, all developed by veterinarians and tailored to meet the individual needs of pets.

CapMan Growth

Dottir advised a consortium led by CapMan Growth in their investment in Tana Oy, a Finnish environmental technology company. CapMan made the investment together with Normet Group’s main owner Aaro Cantell and Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company.

Tana specializes in manufacturing machines and equipment for the mechanical processing of solid waste. The company is a pioneer of using electrical control systems and artificial intelligence solutions in its equipment and has grown in recent years to a global market leader in waste pre-treatment equipment. With this investment, Tana aims for even greater growth.

CapMan Growth is the leading Finnish growth investor making significant minority investments in entrepreneur-led growth companies. This investment marks the first venture of CapMan Growth's new Equity Fund III.


Dottir advised the lead investor NordicNinja VC in the EUR 36.5 million Series A funding round of Onego Bio. The round was participated by Tesi, EIT Food as well as previous investors Agronomics, Maki.vc, Holdix, and Turret. This is one of the largest early-stage startup funding rounds in the Nordics.

Onego Bio, founded in 2022, commercializes a method developed at VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), where the main protein of egg white, ovalbumin, is produced without production animals - in other words, egg white without chickens. With the new funding, Onego intends to focus on scaling its operations and entering the market with contract manufacturers.

NordicNinja is the largest Japanese VC in Europe, backing companies tackling the world’s carbon footprint with a focus on climate tech, deeptech, and digital society.


Dottir acted as counsel for Lumoa (Lumoame Oy) in their acquisition by Netigate.

Sooma’s EUR 5 million financing round was led by Voima Ventures and joined also by existing investor Stephen Industries.

With the new funding, Sooma is set to help more patients globally by accelerating product development and continuing rapid expansion into new and existing markets.

Verge HealthTech Fund is first VC fund investing exclusively, and globally, in impactful healthcare technologies at the earliest stages.

EPV Solar Power Ltd

Dottir advised EPV Solar Power Ltd in connection with the debt financing of EPV Energy's first solar park, located in Lapua, Finland. The solar park, consisting of approximately 140 000 solar panels, is expected to have an average output exceeding 90 GWh per year throughout its life cycle, making it one of the largest in Finland.

EPV Energy, a pioneer in zero-emission energy generation, has made substantial investments in new electricity over the past few years. This renewable energy project marks a significant step forward in their plans to achieve emission-free energy generation.

Carbo Culture

Dottir advised Carbo Culture in its EUR 16 million Series A financing round, led by Temasek-owned decarbonisation fund GenZero as well as San Francisco-based venture capital firm True Ventures, and joined by Tesi and notable climate tech investors and family offices.

Carbo Culture is a climate technology company building a rapidly scalable biochar carbon removal solution for converting waste biomass into stable biochar, locking carbon safely away for centuries and generating renewable energy.

Dottir advised Greencode Ventures in their investment in LiveEO GmbH, a leading provider of earth observation technologies and solutions that revolutionize infrastructure monitoring. Greencode’s investment forms a part of the EUR 10 million first closing of LiveEO’s new financing round.

The financing enables LiveEO to swiftly enter the market for European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) compliance and deforestation monitoring. The company plans to utilize satellite data and AI to provide an innovative deforestation monitoring solution. Linio Biotech

Dottir advised biotech company Linio Biotech in their EUR 4.2 million funding round. The round consisted of existing investors as well as new angel investors familiar with the industry.

Founded in 2017, Linio Biotech’s innovation is an injectable tissue product called Tience®. The product is intended for professional use only and it helps skin naturally regenerate itself by accelerating the skin’s natural healing process. Tience® treatment can be used to repair various skin defects, such as signs of aging or unwanted visible scars. The new funding will help Linio Biotech expand the availability of its Tience® product and treatments.


Dottir advised Timma on their acquisition of Danish Melumi.

Founded in 2014, Timma is a technology company that facilitates online booking and business processes for beauty and wellness companies. Melumi is Denmark's leading online booking platform for similar services.


Dottir advised cleantech company SpinDrive in their EUR 3.8 million Series A funding round. The round was led by U.S.-based Rhapsody Venture Partners and participated by existing investors Innovestor from Finland and Born2Grow from Germany.

Finnish SpinDrive provides affordable active magnetic bearings for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). SpinDrive's frictionless bearings are smaller, more energy efficient, and more affordable than its competitors. Furthermore, the bearings require no oil to work, eliminating the need for polluting lubricants from industrial production.

The funding will enable SpinDrive to ramp up its commercial growth and improve industrial efficiency in factories worldwide.

Nordea Bank Abp, OP Corporate Bank plc and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ)

Dottir advised Nordea Bank Abp, OP Corporate Bank plc and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ) in their roles as Mandated Lead Arrangers in Terveystalo's EUR 175 million sustainability-linked term and revolving credit facilities agreement. The loan, with a maturity period of three years, has been procured for the purpose of refinancing the company's existing facilities maturing between 2023 and 2024.

Kuva Space

Dottir advised Kuva Space, hyperspectral imagery startup, in their EUR 16.6 million Series A funding round. The round was led by existing investors Voima Ventures and Nordic Foodtech VC, with participation from Singapore fund Earth VC.

Founded in 2016, Kuva Space initially built nanosatellites for organizations like the European Space Agency during its first four years. Around 2020 the company decided to pursue a hyperspectral constellation. To date, the company has successfully launched three satellites. Kuva Space now has plans to deploy up to 100 satellites by the end of the decade and aims to establish a U.S. entity.

Firecon Group Oy

Dottir advised the sellers, represented by Evolver Investment Group Ab, in the sale of Firecon Group Oy to Writech Group, a portfolio company of Waterland Private Equity. Firecon Group is a market-leading Finnish full-service provider of automated fire extinguishing systems and HVAC solutions and services with sales of some EUR 13 million in 2022.

Warner Music Finland

Dottir advised Warner Music Finland in its acquisition of the record label business of The Fried Music, the iconic Finnish label founded by Jukka Immonen. Following the acquisition, The Fried Music's artists will join Warner Music's roster and Jukka Immonen will be appointed as Warner's new Head of A&R, effective January 1, 2024.

Warner Music Finland is the largest music entertainment company in Finland and operates across recorded music, music publishing, and artist services.


Dottir advised MeetingPackage, a leading all-in-one sales automation software specializing in venue and group bookings, in their EUR 4.6 million funding round. The round was led by Scale Capital with participation from angel investors.

For three years running, hoteliers around the globe have chosen MeetingPackage as the top venue-booking software in the Hotel Tech Awards. MeetingPackage empowers over 6000 properties, from independents to global brands, for seamless online bookings. With the new funding and product enhancements, MeetingPackage aims to extend its reach, servicing diverse customer needs in group, meeting, and event sales across various channels.


Dottir advised re-commerce marketplace Mjuk in their EUR 2.5 million funding round. The investors in the round comprise Trind Ventures, Alliance VC, Superhero Capital, Lifeline Ventures, and angel investors.

Mjuk, launched in 2019, is an end-to-end circular marketplace, simplifying the process for both companies and consumers to sell furniture that is redundant, including second-hand items, overstock, and retailer returns that cannot be reintegrated into conventional sales channels. The funding will accelerate Mjuk’s growth towards profitability while strengthening the brand’s reputation in both B2B and B2C segments.

Starcart Oy

Dottir advised Starcart Oy, a Finnish tech startup, in their EUR 3.5 million seed funding round. The round was led by Inventure and participated by Business Finland and angel investors.

Starcart, founded in 2021, is transforming online shopping through its AI-powered e-commerce platform, which offers a centralized selection of products from various online stores. In Starcart's online store, customers can automatically discover the best prices and fastest delivery options for the products they desire.

The newly secured funding will enable Starcart to scale its operations and explore new markets across Europe.


Dottir represented Freska in a series of four investigations conducted by the Finnish Centre for Pensions. These investigations were centered on whether Freska's self-employed home cleaners should be legally considered employees. In all four investigations, the rulings favored Freska, concluding that Finnish employment legislation does not apply to them. While most of Freska's home cleaners are in an employment relationship, these decisions highlight that self-employed contractors can be a viable option for providing independent services, even by a single person.


Dottir advised Toyrock group in their acquisition of Ilmapallokeskus Balloon Center Oy, the leading importer, marketer and distributor of balloon and party items in Finland. Ilmapallokeskus is also owner of Juhlamaailma retail stores. For the current financial year their turnover is expected to reach EUR 12.6 million.

Toyrock is the leading marketer and distributor of toys, games and family leisure products in Finland. Evolver Fund I, controlled by Finnish private equity investor Evolver Equity Ab, continues as the largest owner of the Toyrock group. Dottir advised Toyrock group both in the M&A as well as financing of the deal.


Dottir acted as local counsel to Swedish proptech group Hydda in its investment into indoor software provider Freesi.

Freesi, founded in 2017, offers a digital indoor climate management solution that combines AI-driven high-quality data with tenant feedback in an innovative way. The investment will play a crucial role for Freesi to achieve its goal to be a global leader in the industry.

Dottir advised Fixably, a globally recognized after-sales SaaS company, in their USD 10 million seed funding round. Investors participating in the round included 468 Capital, Cusp Capital, Business Finland and existing investor Icebreaker.vc.

With the investment, Helsinki-based Fixably is launching a comprehensive re-commerce management platform to extend the lifespan of over 10 billion devices. Their innovative solution, Fixably Refurb, addresses the challenges faced by re-commerce companies, including sourcing, price management, reporting, grading, and the ability to scale their business.

By enabling data-driven re-commerce operations, Fixably Refurb adds substantial value to the circular economy of consumer electronics.

Jolt Capital

Dottir advised Jolt Capital, Helen Ventures, and other investors in the EUR 85 million growth funding of Virta.

Virta provides leading-edge smart charging services for EV drivers and companies alike, with 1,000 B2B customers in 35 countries who have invested around EUR 400 million in their charging infrastructure. The entire network is used by more than half a million electric vehicles. Virta's goal is to continue to grow faster than the market.

Jolt Capital provides growth equity financing to European B2B technology companies about to go global and with current revenue from EUR 10M to EUR 50M.

Carbonaide Oy

Carbonaide Oy, a spin-off from VTT, is commercialising a carbon capture and storage technology that has the potential to make concrete carbon negative, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The company has secured a total of EUR 1.8 million in seed funding to support its efforts.

Carbonaide's technology makes it possible to cut carbon emissions in half compared to traditional concrete products. Currently, they are constructing the world's first industrial pilot production line for carbon negative concrete, with plans to launch ten production units in the Nordics by 2026.

Dottir acted as Carbonaide's legal advisor throughout the spin-off process.

Dottir advised the lead investor Endeit Capital in the EUR 10 million funding round of IPRally Technologies Oy. The round was joined by the previous investors Join Capital, Spintop Ventures and Icebreaker.vc.

IPRally offers a patent search application sold as a SaaS cloud service. Using artificial intelligence that mimics a patent expert's thinking, the app quickly provides relevant patents from a database of tens of millions. This tool enables operators to safeguard their technology and gain insight into their competitors' intellectual property rights. IPRally will use the funding to develop its patent intelligence and grow its business in Europe and the US.

Endeit Capital is a growth equity firm that invests from its offices in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Stockholm. IPRally was their fourth Nordics investment after Stravito, Happeo and Leadfeeder (sold).

Cronvall Oy

Dottir advised Cronvall in their EUR 1.5 million seed funding round. The round was led by Innovestor and participated by certain Finnish family offices such as Inasis and Procurator.

Cronvall is a B2B marketplace that connects buyers to suppliers in the construction and industrial manufacturing industries with an on-demand online store. It brings features familiar from consumer commerce to business-to-business e-commerce, making the buying process more efficient, convenient, and fast.

With the investment Cronvall will continue to develop and expand further its platform.

Web 3.0 is the third generation of the internet, a development stage that aims to offer services that enable decentralised decision-making and commerce. Web 3.0 unlocks potentials for the emergence of novel business models and services, but it also requires a shared set of rules.

In autumn 2022, Sitra and Dottir collected views from the industry operators on the state of web 3.0 in Finland as well as on legislative measures aimed at advancing the development.

Based on those discussions with some of Finland's top experts, Dottir and Sitra created seven recommendations to improve business opportunities for web 3.0 companies in Finland.

Kapacity.io and NREP have signed a framework agreement. With the agreement, NREP's properties will be covered by Kapacity.io's electricity demand response service. Dottir was Kapacity.io's legal advisor during the process.

Kapacity.io is building the future of smart energy grids with an electricity load balancing service focused on buildings. They aim to both reduce emissions from electricity consumption and mitigate the load on the power grid.

Tracegrow Oy

The circular economy company Tracegrow has collected a total of EUR 2.5 million in funding since last summer. Dottir advised Tracegrow in their funding process. Nordic Foodtech VC, a private equity fund that invests in food technology, invested in the company among others.

Tracegrow, founded in 2021, manufactures organic fertilizer from alkaline batteries. Manufacturing is done by crushing the batteries and separating the trace elements from it into fertilizer. The fertilizer is already sold in 15 countries.

The funding supports Tracegrow's strategy to operate internationally. The company also plans to expand into the production of raw materials for the battery industry.

Fisher King

Dottir advised Fisher King in relation to the production of the TV series Helsinki Syndrome.

Fisher King is a Finnish production company focusing on genre driven productions.

Ruokaboksi Oy

Dottir advised Ruokaboksi Oy in their EUR 3.5 million funding round. The round was led by Nordic Foodtech VC and participated by Suomen Teollisuussijoitus Oy as well as certain existing shareholders.

Ruokaboksi offers recipes along with fresh ingredients for several meals delivered to your door. Their goal is to make everyday cooking easy and effortless while reducing food waste and supporting domestic food production.

Ruokaboksi will use the funding to develop the content and selection of its products and also to expand its operations to international market.

Hoiwa Oy

Dottir advised Hoiwa in their EUR 2 million seed funding round. The investors in the round comprise Nordia Management Oy, Olli Sirkiä (Trado Capital Oy) and Rake Oy.

Hoiwa, founded in 2020, is developing a platform service that helps alleviate the chronic labor shortage in the care industry. With the help of Hoiwa's technology, more than 3,000 community nurses, practical nurses and nurses are already employed in both the private and public sectors. Dottir advised Solnet Green Energy on their EUR 15 million funding round led by EAB Private Equity.

Solnet helps large and medium-sized companies in achieving their sustainability goals in Europe by providing various solar energy solutions and services. A Finnish startup Starcart Oy raised EUR 1.4 million in growth funding. The funding round was led by venture capital fund Inventure.

Starcart, founded in 2021, solves the challenges of online shopping with its new kind of ecommerce consumer service. Starcart provides a platform for a centralized selection of different online stores. In Starcart's online store, the customer automatically finds the best price and fastest delivery for the product they want.

Dottir successfully represented two Singapore-based venture capital companies in an arbitration relating to an investment round of a Finnish growth company. In the case the investors claimed payment of the agreed compensation in accordance with the parties’ fundraising and partnership agreement. The respondent disputed the claims alleging that the investors had neglected its duties under the parties’ agreement.

Dottir advised Woodly, a pioneer in developing wood-based plastic, in their EUR 3 million growth financing by Vesa Puttonen, Lauri Rosendahl, Small Giant Games founders and Taaleri Impakti, among others. Dottir advised Carrot Revolution, a Finnish food and EdTech start-up, in its pre-seed funding round which was led by PINC which is a venture arm of Paulig Group and Aristo Invest and TukkuHeino, owned by Heino Family.

The Carrot Kitchen app guides children through a step-by-step process with interactive videos and voice instructions. The service is developed in a fun and game-like way with several elements that will keep the children engaged, including points and reward systems topped with fun cooking challenges.

Dottir advised Carbo Culture in their EUR 5.2 million financing round led by Silicon Valley VC True Ventures and co-led by European early-stage VC Cherry Ventures. Other investors included Swiss climate investor Übermorgen Ventures.

Carbo Culture converts woody waste into functional biocarbons to remove CO2 out of the atmosphere. The new funding will be used to grow the team and build one of Europe’s largest carbon removal facilities.

Dottir advised Sellforte Solutions Oy in their EUR 4 million financing round led by Portuguese Sonae IM, with Bonnier Ventures and Icebreaker.vc as co-investors.

Dottir advised the shareholders of Viima Solutions Oy, a Finnish innovation management SaaS provider, in the sale of the company to HYPE Innovation, a German software company backed by Main Capital Partners.

Viima, established in 2013, is a SaaS company specialized in innovation management. Viima helps organizations to collect and manage ideas to make more innovation happen. The company’s diverse customer base ranges from small teams to Global Fortune 500 companies in approximately 30 different countries across the globe. AMAVI Capital

Dottir advised AMAVI Capital, the lead investor in GBuilder’s EUR 2 million financing round. GBuilder’s existing investors, Butterfly Ventures and Vendep Capital joined the round along with few select angel investors.

GBuilder’s product is a building information modeling (BIM) compatible software that digitises residential and commercial properties, allowing customers to walk through the space using 3D and VR visualisations. Flow Festival

Dottir defended Flow Festival against charges for environmental infraction. On 14 December 2020 the District Court of Helsinki dismissed all charges brought against Flow Festival. The trial is characterised as a precedent for the entire event industry.

Flow Festival was charged for surpassing noise limits set by the City of Helsinki during the festivals in 2017 and 2018. In the trial, it was left uncertain whether the limits had actually been exceeded. This was due to the effect of weather conditions, the location of the measuring point and its distance from the sound source. Also, the Court concluded that Flow Festival had taken all measures possible in order to decrease the volume without compromising public safety.

Flow Festival is a music festival taking place at the historic Suvilahti power plant area close to the Helsinki city centre yearly in mid-August.

Carital Group

Dottir advised the sole seller in the sale of Carital group (Carital Oy together with its subsidiary MediMattress Oy) to Direct Healthcare Group.

Carital Group is a manufacturer of a comprehensive range of pressure area care and patient handling solutions. A British-based Direct Healthcare Group is a leading European manufacturer of pressure care, patient handling and specialist seating solutions.

Fisher King

Dottir has advised Fisher King Oy in various legal matters relating to Sorjonen (Bordertown) series and the upcoming Sorjonen: Mural Murders movie.

Fisher King, founded in 2013, is a company dedicated to creation, holding and licensing of Intellectual property.


Dottir advised AppFollow in their USD 5 million Series A round led by Nauta Capital, alongside existing investors Vendep Capital and RTP Global participating.

AppFollow is the fully remote all-in-one app management company and helps 70,000 companies including McDonald’s, Disney, Expedia and others, to manage apps at scale. The funds will be used to accelerate into new markets, diversify its customer offering, and hire new talent.

Central Finland Health Care District (Keski-Suomen sairaanhoitopiiri)

Dottir acted as the legal counsel for the Central Finland Health Care District (Keski-Suomen sairaanhoitopiiri) in the procurement of the new Health and Social Information System from Cerner Ireland Limited.

The value of the 10 year agreement is approx. 286 MEUR and the new system will serve more than 700.000 patients throughout Finland.

The case is one of the biggest IT-procurements in Finland during 2020.

Arvo Sijoitusosuuskunta

Dottir advised Arvo Sijoitusosuuskunta in their EUR 3 million investment in Valve Group, a full-service marketing and communications agency of the digital era.

Arvo Sijoitusosuuskunta is a regional investment cooperative which is owned by its 25,000 members. The cooperative has its roots in the telephone business, which was founded more than 100 years ago.


Dottir advised HappySignals in their EUR 4.7 million series A round which was led by Nauta Capital with Vendep Capital as a co-investor.

HappySignals is a Finnish startup and a provider of an employee experience management platform making experience data visible, understandable and connected to operational data in IT. The funds will be used to further HappySignals’ mission and expand operations in Europe and the US.


Dottir advised Disior in their EUR 1.7 million funding from Maki.vc and Tesi alongside existing investors. The funding will support the commercialisation of Disior's newly CE-marked product Bonelogic Ortho Foot and Ankle.

Disior develops 3D analytics software for medical doctors that analyses, quantifies and parameterizes medical images. Disior's software is being used in Maxillofacial and Orthopedic surgery all over the world.


Dottir advised Maki.vc, the lead investor together with German firm TS Ventures, in EUR 1 million seed round for CarbonCloud.

CarbonCloud is a Swedish start-up that helps companies within the food industry to calculate their climate footprints of their products. The platform is used in-house e.g. by brands Oatly and Nude.


Dottir advised Videoly in their financing round to accelerate international growth especially in North America. The round was led by Vendep Capital and joined by few selected angel investors.

Videoly provides a smooth product video platform for brands and online retailers.

Solar Foods

Dottir advised Solar Foods, a company producing a unique single-cell protein out of thin air, in their series A round with EUR 15 million new financing. This was the largest food-tech financing round in Finland to date and it was led by Fazer Group with Bridford Investments Limited, Agronomics Limited, Lifeline Ventures and CPT Capital.

Solar Foods is the first company capable of producing food by using air-captured CO2, including the preparation of the actual final food products. Solar Foods produces an entirely new kind of nutrient-rich protein, Solein®, by using air and electricity as its primary raw materials. This process revolutionises food production, as the production of Solein is non-dependent on agriculture, climate, or the weather.

Kemijoki Oy

Dottir advised Kemijoki Oy in outsourcing the technical maintenance and operations of their hydropower plants at the Kemijoki and Lieksankoski watercourse area to Caverion Industria Oy.

Kemijoki is the most significant producer of hydropower and regulating power in Finland. The objective of the partnership between Kemijoki and Caverion is to continue ensuring sustainable and innovative hydropower production in Northern Finland.


Dottir advised Finlayson, a Finnish textile manufacturer, in a subcontract of delivering surgical masks to The National Emergency Supply Agency (Huoltovarmuuskeskus).

Finlayson will provide over 60 million surgical masks in collaboration with MedKit Finland, a Finnish company providing emergency and other healthcare supplies.


Dottir advised Maki.vc, the lead investor in EUR 1 million seed round for Alvar Pet, a Finnish start-up focusing on making pet food even more climate-friendly.

JB Nordic Ventures (NordicNinja)

Dottir advised JB Nordic Ventures (NordicNinja) in the EUR 46 million C round funding of Varjo, in which new investors Finnish Industry Investment, NordicNinja and Swisscanto Invest by Zürcher Kantonalbank and existing investors Lifeline Ventures, Atomico, EQT Ventures and Volvo Cars Tech Fund invested in the company.

Varjo is creating the world’s most advanced VR/XR hardware and software for industrial use, merging the real and virtual worlds seamlessly together in human-eye resolution.

Dottir advised Zadaa (Digital Fabric Oy), an online marketplace for secondhand fashion, in their EUR 4 million financing round. The company received investments from Begin Capital, Superhero Capital and Impulse VC to accelerate its international growth.

Zadaa is the world’s first marketplace to make selling and buying secondhand as simple as in an online store.

JB Nordic Ventures

Dottir advised JB Nordic Ventures (NordicNinja) in the EUR 4.5 million A round financing of Logmore Oy, a Finnish seamless QR data logging service pioneer. The financing round was led by NordicNinja and the other investors included the existing investor Icebreaker VC and new investors Trind Ventures, Tekton Ventures, and Jaakkoo-Taara.

NordicNinja is a deep tech focused venture capital firm with over 100 million euros for supporting scale-up goals in the Nordic and Baltic region.

Neuro Event Labs

Dottir advised Neuro Event Labs, a Finnish health tech company, in their EUR 3.9 million series A round in which Hadean Ventures, SHS Capital and Maki.vc invested in the company to accelerate its international growth.

Neuro Event Labs offers significantly more personalized, accurate and scalable AI-powered diagnostics to treat up to 65 million epilepsy patients worldwide, responding to the increased demand for remote healthcare solutions.

Kemijoki Oy

Dottir advised Kemijoki Oy in its procurement of maintenance, environmental and safety work for its hydropower plants from Mitta Oy during 2021-2023.

Kemijoki Oy is the most important producer of hydropower and regulating power in Finland. The company owns 20 hydropower plants located at the Kemijoki watercourse area, River Lieksanjoki and River Kymijoki.

Starberry Games

Dottir Berlin advised StarBerry Games, an award-winning mobile games studio, in their series seed round which was led by byFounders.

Berlin based StarBerry Games aims to build genre-leading games by identifying innovation opportunities in selected casual games genres. They plan to combine trending and interesting game mechanics with familiar game design elements, to craft unique gameplay experiences for broad audiences.

Mainframe Industries

Dottir advised Mainframe Industries, a pan-Nordic gaming company with studios in Helsinki and Reykjavik, in their EUR 7.6 million series A round.

The investment round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) with support from previous investors Maki.vc, Play Ventures, Sisu Game Ventures and Crowberry Capital, and a new investor Riot Games.

This was the first time when a16z or Riot Games is investing in the Nordics.

JB Nordic Ventures

Dottir advised JB Nordic Ventures (NordicNinja) in its and ITOCHU’s EUR 6 million A-round investment in Sensible 4, a Finnish autonomous driving technology pioneer specializing in autonomous driving software for demanding and harsh weather conditions.

NordicNinja is a venture capital firm with over 100 million euros for supporting scale-up goals in the Nordic and Baltic region. ITOCHU is one of the largest Japanese trading companies.


Dottir advised Howspace in EUR 1.6 million bridge funding to gear up its international growth.

Howspace is a dialogue-driven learning and organizational development platform which has around 200 000 active users. The clients span from consulting firms to enterprises and unions, as well as city administrations and governmental offices.

Micro Aided Design Oy (M.A.D.)

Dottir advised shareholders of Micro Aided Design in their sale of majority stake in the company to Evolver Equity. A Helsinki based Micro Aided Design is Finland's leading specialist in building information modeling and offers a wide range of BIM tools and related training and consultancy services to architect offices and other building related companies.

Simultaneously, Evolver Equity Fund I acquired majority stakes in Graphisoft Norge (Norway) and Nolliplan (Sweden), and the acquisition is accelerating the digitalization of the construction business in the Nordic countries by combining the leading open BIM application companies in the Nordics.


Dottir advised UpCloud in their EUR 18 million funding to accelerate UpCloud’s international growth. Investors in this investment round are Connected Capital & Partners, Finnish Industry Investment (Tesi) and Inventure.

Dottir advised Teosto in its sale of a majority stake in Mind Your Rights to NK Digital Solutions GmbH. Mind Your Rights was established by the Finnish copyright organisation Teosto to develop a global live music copyright licensing platform. Dottir advised Ficolo in their acquisition of Protacon’s data center business. Dottir’s work included both the drafting and negotiation of the business transfer agreement as well as the drafting and negotiation of the updated IT service agreements.

Ficolo is one of the leading data center companies in Finland, specialized in cloud delivery services.


Dottir acted as the sole legal counsel for YIT in the IT outsourcing where YIT procured networking-, capacity-, data security- and mobile services from Telia to all of its operating locations in 11 countries after the merger of YIT and Lemminkäinen.

This high-profile outsourcing case lasted for about 8 months and included a full procurement-, RFP- and negotiation process with altogether 8 suppliers.


Dottir supported YIT in the outsourcing and partnership deal with CGI on the modernisation and harmonisation of YIT's end-user services.

The scope of the deal was a mix of very traditional IT-services (workstation-, life cycle-, service desk- and system integration) together with cutting-edge technology and service offerings (such as digital self-service, data analytics, automation and software robotic technologies). The number of Mela's customers in working life is around 62,000 and the number of people receiving MYEL pension is around 119,000

Dottir represents Bring Express in a contract litigation relating to a director agreement.

Financier Group

Dottir advised the minority shareholders of Financier Group in their acquisition of Palace and Savoy, the two most iconic restaurants in Finland. The seller and the majority shareholder of Financier Group was NoHo Partners.

Palace has recently awarded a Michelin star, and the legendary restaurant Savoy has been making culinary history for 80 years.


We represented a Finnish software vendor in arbitration proceedings under the FAI rules against a US listed company.

The case concerned termination of a software license agreement and related claims.

Post Control Helsinki

Dottir represented Post Control Helsinki, a high-end post production company, in their complaint before the Market Court against YLE, the national broadcasting company of Finland.

The complaint concerned public procurement of services for digitalisation of YLE’s film collection with a maximum estimated value of EUR 10 million.

Play Ventures

Dottir advised Play Ventures, a Singapore based venture capital investor, in their investment in Redhill Games, a rapidly growing game studio.

Play Ventures is a venture investor which invests in early-stage companies in gaming and gaming services around the world.

Dottir advised Flow Festival and its founders in an investment where Superstruct Entertainment, the live entertainment platform backed by Providence Equity Partners, invested in Flow Festival.

Dottir advised Tomorrow Tech in creating a digital registry for housing company shares. In Finland holding shares in a housing company is a common form of real estate and home ownership. Owning an apartment in Finland usually means owning shares in a housing company.

The new digital registry is utilizes blockchain technology and it is operated in collaboration with Danske Bank, Nordea, Aktia, S-Pankki and OP-Group.

Wolt Enterprises

Dottir advised Wolt Enterprises and its founders in the acquisition of the food delivery business of Dailyvery Sp.z.oo in Poland. Simultaneously the founders and investors of Dailyvery Sp.z.oo invested in Wolt Enterprises.

Wolt Enterprises has an Apple-awarded app, and a website a for discovering and getting food in the city – home-delivered, takeaway or eat in. Wolt partners with more than 3,500 restaurants and 10,000 couriers around Europe.

Sanoma Media Finland

Dottir advised Sanoma Media Finland in their acquisition of the stake in Finnish music publisher and management company Kaiku Entertainment.

Dottir advised Estée Lauder Companies Europe in a legal design project, where the privacy policy for their cosmetics brands was re-designed to be more user friendly and to better reflect each respective brand.

Dottir advised Cibes Lift Group AB in their acquisition of Amslift.

The acquisition was one of the important transactions among privately owned lifts sold in more than 50 countries worldwide with personnel of 400 employees and net sales about EUR 100 million. Amslift is the largest privately-owned lift company in Finland.

Dottir advised Northzone, a leading Nordic venture capital firm, in their Series A investment in HappyOrNot.

The Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce

Dottir conducted a legal design project together with The Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI), creating a digital flowchart of the arbitration process under the FAI rules.

The process flowchart was created as a result of user workshops and presented at the HIAD 2018 conference.

Blok Enterprises

Dottir advised Blok Enterprises, the first Finnish digital real estate agency, in their financing round in which Lifeline Ventures and the leading Nordic media company Bonnier invested in the company.

Dottir advised Ficolo in their acquisition of the data center business of Cybercom in Tampere, Finland. Dottir’s work included both the drafting and negotiation of the Business Transfer Agreement as well as the drafting and negotiation of the updated IT Service Agreements.
